Dr. Edward Lewis joined Advantage Primary Care in July of 2026. Dr. Lewis received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Virginia Polytechnic & State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, and he received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville, Virginia. He completed a residency in family medicine and a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Fairfax Family Practice in Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Lewis is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Meet James E. Detrick, PA-C

Meet James E. Detrick, PA-C

James E. Detrick, PA-C, who grew up in Midlothian, provides comprehensive primary care and aesthetic services to adults at Advantage Primary Care in Richmond, Virginia. After earning his undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Jim graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. That training included rotations in surgery, family practice, internal medicine, dermatology, psychiatry, OB/GYN, pediatrics, and orthopedics. Since his graduation, Jim has had many years of experience in primary care and emergency medicine. He worked at several local medical facilities but is very proud to have provided family medicine and preventive care to military families in Fort Lee. He has extensive experience helping patients of all ages with acute and chronic medical problems. Jim’s care philosophy is patient-centered. He wants you to feel better about yourself, your relationship with your medical provider, and your control of your medical concerns be they chronic medical conditions like diabetes or hypertension, acute conditions, or aesthetic concerns. Jim gives back to the community and has volunteered medical services in Haiti, and had been a volunteer EMT for almost 20 years He has had extensive training as an emergency medical technician and continues to maintain his ACLS certification. In addition, Jim is very excited to be a certified Biote provider and to have a achieved advanced certification in aesthetic injectables. He regularly attends conferences to keep abreast of the latest medical trends in to help his patients.

Christina Foster FNP

Meet Christina Foster, FNP

Mrs. Christina Foster is a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in emergency and urgent care medicine. Originally from Long Island, New York, she moved to Richmond to attend the University of Richmond and quickly fell in love with the area. She went on to earn her nursing degree and Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Health concentration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Throughout her career, Christina has cared for patients of all ages and backgrounds, helping them navigate both acute illnesses and ongoing health concerns. While her experience in emergency and urgent care has been invaluable, she is excited to focus on primary care, where she can build lasting relationships with patients and support their long-term health and wellness.

Her approach to care is holistic and patient-centered. She believes in taking the time to listen, understand each patient's unique needs, and partner with them to achieve their health goals. Whether providing preventive care, managing chronic conditions, or promoting healthy lifestyle changes, Christina strives to treat the whole person with compassion, respect, and evidence-based care.

Outside of work, Christina enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her husband, their four daughters, and their two dogs.
